Dr. Hines is Chief of Winthrop's Division of Vascular Surgery and Director of the Non-Invasive Vascular Laboratory. He has nearly 30 years' experience as a surgeon, with more than two decades as a cardiothoracic surgeon.
Dr. Hines received his post-graduate training in cardiothoracic surgery at New York University Medical Center and completed a residency in surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. He received his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine.
Dr. Hines has published over 65 papers in professional journals and given more than 35 professional presentations. These have dealt primarily with carotid endarterectomy and the management of aortic aneurysms and complex aortic disease.
Dr. Hines is Board Certified in Thoracic Surgery and Vascular Surgery. He is a member of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery International Society for Cardiovascular Surgery and serves on the New York State Consortium for Evaluation of Effectiveness of Carotid Endarterectomy. Dr. Hines is an Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery at the SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine.
