JOHN A. GONCALVES, JR., MD
Dr. Goncalves is an attending cardiothoracic surgeon. He specializes in complex reconstruction of both the ascending and descending aorta.
His postgraduate clinical training includes fellowships in cardiothoracic surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and New York Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, as well as a residency in general surgery and research fellowship in medicine and surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident. He received his medical degree, summa cum laude, from Albany Medical College, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honor society. Prior to that, he earned a BS/MD from Union College in a combined seven-year accelerated biomedical education program, graduating summa cum laude and a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Board Certified in Surgery, Dr. Goncalves is an Associate Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
He has published articles in professional journals and presented lectures on a variety of topics.
