WILLIAM KOKOTOS, MD


= Dr. Kokotos is an attending cardiothoracic surgeon. He specializes in all aspects of adult and congenital cardiac procedures, and is especially interested in offpump coronary bypass, minimally invasive, multivessel bypass, complex valvular reconstruction procedures, arrhythmia surgery and video-assisted procedures

Prior to joining Winthrop, Dr. Kokotos was at the Hospital from The Park Cardiothoracic and Vascular Institute in Pittsburgh, PA (formerly the Heart & Lung Institute). His postgraduate clinical training includes a fellowship in thoracic surgery and a residency in general surgery at New York University Medical Center. He received his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine and was in the Honors Program.

Board Certified in Surgery and Thoracic Surgery, Dr. Kokotos is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the International Society for Endovascular Surgery.

He frequently speaks on many topics related to cardiothoracic surgery, has published articles in professional journals, and most recently was the principal investigator of a research project that focused on clinical risk analysis protocol to prospectively evaluate operative risk and analyze cardiac surgical outcomes in approximately 3,000 patients.
